Google Cast is a technology that lets you cast your favorite entertainment and apps from your phone, tablet or laptop right to your TV or speakers that support the feature.
On Tuesday, Google subtly announced a rebrand of Google Cast to Chromecast by way of a Twitter handle change:
The tech giant has been jumping around on its branding for Cast, most recently switching from Google Cast to Google Home with the release of the company's smart speaker.
Google Cast media-streaming technology isn't going away. But it seems the name for it is changing, again.
Going forward, expect to see more products labeled with "Chromecast built-in," such as TVs from Toshiba and Vizio instead of Cast.
It's the same technology, just a new name. so don’t get it twisted.
